Sign-on, Pool Proficiencies, Run-Swim-Run and Awards

Sign-on and pool proficiencies will be conducted by the club at the beginning of the season (see calendar page 8 for specific dates and locations).   Any person who cannot attend or does not pass their proficiency on these dates will have to make alternative arrangements such as have a signed time from a registered coach.  Details are given in the table below.

Please note that:

• All Seniors and Cadets ( U15-18) must either do a Bronze medallion (Cert II in Aquatic Safety) or a proficiency each year.

Pool and Beach Proficiency ( does not include rescues and paper for U15 and up)

• The club will offer a discount of $10 to associate members who undertake a defined role within the Club (eg – official, office bearer as per constitution, age or team manager).

Senior Carnivals -

Club will pay competition fees in any one season up to a maximum of $50.00 per member providing the competitor has collected at least twice this amount for the club during the annual Door Knock Appeal or during other club fundraising activities and ensured that these amounts are properly recorded with the Club. Club Teams should apply to the management committee for teams events and carnivals for a club position on carnival fees.

Supports Club Fees - $5 to non-member of the main club.

·     A child cannot join the club unless at least one parent or guardian joins as well. 

·     All members of the Club must apply for or hold a current ‘Working With Children’ (Blue) Card.

Club Championships

• Competitors must have completed at least 25 hours of active patrols during the season.
• Points for Club Champion area awarded per event to 4^th place with 4 points for first down to 1 point for 4^th place.  Competitors that place at least 4^th in an event will receive a trophy at the annual dinner.  Only one trophy will be awarded to each successful competitor showing all their placings (4^th and better). Male and Female club champions will have this shown on their trophy and will be recorded on the perpetual trophy held at the club.

CLUB Board Usage Rules

Seniors

1)     BEFORE USING BOARDS AND SKIS, MEMBERS MUST BE INDUCTED BY THE GEAR STEWARD, BOARD COACH (OR THEIR NOMINEE) INTO THE USE OF BOARDS AND THE RULES, AND BE ALLOCATED A BOARD/S SUITABLE TO THEIR LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE AND SIZE. NEWER BOARDS ARE GENERALLY RESERVED FOR MEMBERS TRAINING FOR COMPETITION AT BRANCH OR STATE CARNIVALS.

2)     NO BOARD OR SKI IS TO BE TAKEN AWAY FROM THE CLUB WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE GEAR STEWARD.

3)     WHEN TAKING A BOARD FROM THE CLUBHOUSE TO THE BEACH YOU MUST TAKE EXTREME CARE NOT TO DAMAGE IT AND IF AT ALL POSSIBLE USE A “BUDDY” TO HELP GET THE BOARD OUTSIDE THE GEAR SHED.

4)     ALL MEMBERS USING BOARDS AND SKIS MUST AT ALL TIMES DISPLAY A RESPONSIBLE ATTITUDE AND SHOW CARE AND ATTENTION IN AND OUT OF THE WATER. REMEMBER, YOU ARE REPRESENTING YOUR CLUB EVERY TIME YOU COME TO THE BEACH AND THE CLUB.

5)     ANY MEMBER WHO SECURES A SPECIFIC DONATION OF A BOARD OR MONEY FOR A BOARD, CAN (AFTER CLUB MANAGEMENT CONSENT AND THE BOARD BEING NUMBERED) BE ALLOWED EXCLUSIVE USE OF THAT ‘CLUB’ BOARD UNTIL THEY ARE NO LONGER ACTIVELY COMPETING (AT LEAST 2 EVENTS DURING A SEASON).  THE BOARD WILL THEN REVERT TO A GENERAL CLUB BOARD.

6)     MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BOARD OR SKI THEY ARE USING UNTIL IT IS RETURNED TO THE RACKS.

7)     ANY DAMAGE TO BOARDS OR SKIS MUST BE REPORTED TO THE GEAR STEWARD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS INCLUDES ANY ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE OR DAMAGE OUTSIDE OFFICIAL TRAINING SESSIONS.  A “DAMAGED”OR “REPAIR” TAG MUST THEN BE ATTACHED AND THE BOARD NUMBER BE WRITTEN ON THE WHITEBOARD SO THAT IT CAN BE REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

8)     ANY DAMAGE CAUSED OUTSIDE OFFICIAL TRAINING AND COMPETITION TO ANY CLUB BOARD INCLUDING EXCLUSIVE USE BOARDS MUST BE REPAIRED PROFESSIONALLY AT THE MEMBERS EXPENSE. THE REPAIR MUST BE DONE TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE GEAR STEWARD.

9)     IF ANY MEMBER CANNOT WORK WITH THESE RULES THEY SHOULD NOT USE THE CLUB BOARDS OR SKIS AND BUY THEIR OWN.
