Introducing Lisa Maddison as our member of the month for March 2021. The trial member originating from Kurrawa, of Surfers Paradise and Miami too, has taken on her new membership in full stride. Diving straight in, Lisa facilitated an emergency care course for our newest SRC’s and several others since. Holding the position of Chief Training Officer at Kurrawa for several seasons, she gained her Training Officers, Assessors and Facilitators accreditations for the Bronze Medallion and has been invaluable assisting where needed with courses. Lisa’s ability to capture an audience is marvellous, from her year 4 students she has taught to run a classroom through to the adults within our surf club. She has continued to develop her skills attaining her Silver Medallion IRB Drivers and recently was named as a mentor for the Women’s Mentoring Program designed to strengthen leadership skills and develop the next generation of female leaders within the Surf Life Saving movement. Within the Branch, Lisa is the Patrol Development Coordinator and rewrote the way in which patrol inspections are conducted to focus on building better lifesavers. She is also Miami’s very own Patrol Development Officer. Continuing in Lifesaving, Lisa has volunteered a remarkable amount this season exceeding 160 hours already as a Surfcom operator for the state’s communication centre, Patrol Captain for Surfers Paradise and Kurrawa, and assisting with patrols at Miami when we have fallen short. Thank you Lisa and congratulations, we look forward to your continued involvement at Miami!
